Job Opportunity: Teacher of Chemistry
We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Teacher of Chemistry who embraces innovative pedagogical practices and is capable of teaching at the MYP/IGCSE and IB Diploma levels. This role is designed for a Chemistry specialist who excels in both classroom instruction and collaboration with colleagues, seamlessly balancing teaching and leadership responsibilities to meet the needs of the school.
Main Duties:
- Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the individual needs of students.
- Contribute to the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment opportunities.
- Continuously seek to develop professional skills and enhance pedagogical practices.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all young people.
- Manage subject-related administration and actively engage in department meetings, occasionally taking on a leadership role.
- Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as necessary.
- Maintain exceptional standards of Health & Safety within the Science Department.
- Ensure that science materials are well-maintained and managed in accordance with CLEAPSS protocols for safe storage, use, and disposal.
The Ideal Candidate:

- Previous experience leading a Science Department, preferably with an emphasis on IBDP.
- Possesses a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a related subject.
- Commits to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- A passionate individual who can inspire enthusiasm for Chemistry in others.
- Able to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning and willing to experiment with new practices.
- Willingness to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
