Systems Engineer / Systems Engineeress

Transmutex SA - September 25, 2025

Summary

Transmutex adopts a digital model-centric approach to project development. Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) is a strategic priority for us and serves as the foundation for implementing best practices in systems engineering.

About Us

Transmutex, founded in 2019 and based in Geneva, is on a mission to reinvent nuclear energy. Our focus is on developing an accelerator-driven system (ADS) to optimize the transmutation of long-lived nuclear waste. By innovatively combining particle accelerators with existing long-lived radioactive waste, we aim to create an energy-producing system that is intrinsically safe, reduces the stockpile of long-lived waste, resists proliferation, and competes on cost.

About the Role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join one of our technical teams at Transmutex. You will be part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment that fosters innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct stakeholder and system requirements analysis.
  • Define and develop system functional, logical, and physical architectures.
  • Perform system-level trade-off studies to optimize performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Support the planning of design and testing activities in alignment with system requirements.
  • Coordinate the integration of various subsystems.
  • Define and manage system interfaces.
  • Create 0D/1D models that accurately represent the system.
  • Apply MBSE methods and oversee related technical data and documentation.
  • Conduct FMEA analyses of critical systems.
  • Identify and assess technical risks.
  • Manage change requests, configuration, and versioning.
  • Produce and maintain accountability for technical documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications and Professional Achievements

The ideal candidates will possess:

  • A university degree in engineering, chemistry, or physics.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering process development.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • OMG SysML Certification.
  • Experience using a SysML system modeling tool (such as CATIA Magic or Rhapsody).
  • Experience in the nuclear industry, back-end nuclear fuel cycle, or industrial chemical processes.
  • Proficiency in French, German, or Italian.
