About the Business Unit Robotics

The Business Unit Robotics specializes in the development, production, and distribution of pipetting robots designed to automate liquid handling processes. Our diverse clientele ranges from the pharmaceutical and food industries to cell and DNA research.

How You Can Make a Difference

  • You will support the synthesis and validation of systems, considering the complete problem from Market, Operations, Performance, Manufacturing, Testing, Disposal, Training, and Support perspectives.
  • The System Engineer will address both the business and technical needs of all customers, as conveyed by the Product Management organization, aiming to provide a quality set of system architecture alternatives.
  • You will ensure compliance with Hamilton's best practices policies and procedures throughout development practices, actively contributing to the definition of these policies.
  • Leveraging your multidisciplinary knowledge, you will assist in the development and enhancement of process-driven systems as required by Hamilton's products.
  • You will create and document functional processes for installation, Run-In, and Final QC Macros before implementation.
  • You will collaborate with Product Management and Senior Engineering Management to define product maintenance projects, roadmaps, technologies, budgets, and more.
  • You will transfer and implement technologies, methodologies, and workflows as agreed upon with the Head of R&T.
  • Utilizing your product knowledge, you will creatively respond to the critical needs of customers.
  • You will align the various disciplines and their interfaces, including Hardware, Electronics, Embedded Software, and Software Development.
  • You will ensure that systems fit into Hamilton’s product strategy.

What You Bring Along

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading large design projects and coordinating cross-functional teams of four or more members.
  • Proven experience in System-Model Design.
  • Demonstrated expertise in simulation setup and results interpretation.
  • Proficient in at least one System-Modelling environment (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, Octave, Scilab).
  • Experience in engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Fluent in English with the ability to speak German (minimum B2 level).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Background or knowledge in Design Control Processes.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages is advantageous.
  • Expertise in at least one requirements management tool (e.g., Doors, Polarion) - experience with Polarion is a plus.
  • Experience with testing and data analytics, especially in statistical approaches, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of robotics is an additional asset.
  • A background in Physics or Fluid Dynamics is advantageous.
