Job Opportunity: Project Coordinator and Communication Manager

The Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET) is part of the SwissChips initiative, a collaborative research effort focused on chip design, microelectronics, and semiconductors. We are seeking a talented Project Coordinator and Communication Manager to provide essential support to the Director, the Project Management Office, and the SwissChips community.

This is a fixed-term position funded until the end of 2027, with a working percentage ranging from 40% to 60% based on your interests, skills, and experience.

SwissChips is a 3-year research initiative backed by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), engaging over 20 professors and 80 doctoral students and researchers from ETH Zürich, the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM). Our goal is to effectively coordinate the project and share groundbreaking results with the public. As the Project Coordinator and Communication Manager, you will play a critical role in this mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in overseeing coordination, communication, dissemination, and outreach activities for SwissChips.
  • Manage internal and external communications for the SwissChips community.
  • Document and disseminate research output and maintain engaging communication channels.
  • Organize events and outreach activities, promoting public and industry engagement.
  • Maintain the SwissChips website with timely and relevant news (both technical and non-technical).
  • Manage our LinkedIn channel and solicit updates from the SwissChips community regularly.
  • Coordinate content for the annual technical report and other media communications.
  • Act as the primary contact for press, industry, and public inquiries.
  • Support the planning of events, including the organization of the annual SwissChips events with 200-300 participants.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing workshops, meetings, and calls.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both in person and in writing (fluent English required; German is a plus).
  • Aptitude for creating clear, precise, and engaging scientific news and social media articles.
  • Ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment while maintaining a clear overview.

Experience in the Swiss research landscape and the ETH domain is advantageous. We also welcome diverse profiles, including candidates with backgrounds in scientific writing, journalism, or online content management, coupled with project coordination experience.
