Join Our Team as a Category Specialist / Technical Supplier Engineer for Iron Casting

This position reports to the Global Category Manager for Iron Casting, based in Baden, Switzerland. If you have a passion for driving continuous improvement and change, this role could be the perfect fit for you.
Your Responsibilities:
- Main interface to suppliers on technical and quality aspects while collaborating with procurement and quality management on supplier quality topics.
- Supplier Qualification: Assess suppliers' sand-casting and machining capabilities; audit supplier quality management systems and processes.
- Product and Process Qualification/Optimization: Lead cross-functional teams to perform Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) for sand casted components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with applicable drawings, process descriptions, and standards. Provide technical support to suppliers to meet Accelleron Switzerland’s requirements for sand casted parts, including reviewing proposed simulation models and gating system parameters.
- Approve supplier casting processes via submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plans and FMEAs.
- Supplier Development: Evaluate supplier performance through regular analysis, initiate and implement quality improvement programs, and define risk mitigation measures. Ensure compliance with protocols and guidelines of the current integral management system.
- Lead and participate in internal quality meetings, qualitatively analyzing delivered sand casting parts and defining sustainable corrective measures.
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in sand casting, foundry engineering, or material engineering.
- Fluent in German and English is essential.
- 5+ years of experience as a Casting Expert, Manufacturing Engineer, or Supplier Quality Engineer with expertise in sand casting and machining.
- Experience in qualifying and developing suppliers for sand casted parts used in Turbochargers, utilizing the Product and Process Qualification process (equivalent to PPAP).
- Strong command of quality tools such as SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, and PPAP; Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification is preferred.
- Auditor certification according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 is a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving methods, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Experience leading projects and managing virtual cross-functional teams in an international environment.
- A self-starter with strong strategic, analytical, leadership, and intercultural skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with others.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30-40% of the time.
