Position Overview
This position reports to the Global Category Manager for Iron Casting, based in Baden, Switzerland. As a Category Specialist / Technical Supplier Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our operations by acting as the main interface between suppliers and our internal teams on technical and quality aspects.
Your Responsibilities
- Main interface with suppliers regarding technical and quality aspects, collaborating with procurement and quality management on supplier quality topics.
- Supplier Qualification: Assess suppliers’ sand-casting and machining capabilities, and audit their quality management systems and processes.
- Product and Process Qualification/Optimization: Lead cross-functional teams to perform Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) for sand casted components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with applicable drawings, process descriptions, and standards.
- Provide technical support to suppliers to help them meet Accelleron Switzerland's technical and quality requirements for sand casted parts, including reviewing proposed simulation models, gating systems, and metal pouring parameters.
- Approve supplier casting processes via submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plans and FMEAs.
- Supplier Development: Analyze supplier quality performance regularly and initiate quality improvement programs, including root cause analyses and risk mitigation measures.
- Lead and participate in internal quality meetings with various departments, providing qualitative analysis and evaluations of delivered sand casting parts, and defining measures for sustainable deviation elimination.
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in sand casting, foundry engineering, or material engineering.
- Fluent in German and English.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Casting Expert, Manufacturing Engineer, or Supplier Quality Engineer with expertise in sand casting and machining.
- Experience in qualifying and developing suppliers for sand casted parts for Turbochargers using the Product and Process Qualification process.
- Strong foundation in quality tools such as SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, and PPAP, as well as Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification.
- Auditor certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 is an advantage.
- Problem-solving aptitude, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Experience leading projects and managing virtual cross-functional teams in an international setting.
- Self-starter with strong strategic, analytical thinking, leadership skills, and intercultural expertise.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with others.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30-40% of the time.
