Student Research Assistant for Sustainable Consumption

The Centre for Energy Policy and Economics (CEPE) at ETH Zurich is seeking a student research assistant to contribute to the project on Sustainable Consumption. The objective of this project is to identify factors that impact sustainable consumption.

Job Description

The student will assist in searching data sources and assembling a comprehensive database while collaborating closely with the research team on the following activities:

• Writing scripts for the automated collection and cleaning of data, organizing it into a structured database.
• Computing simple statistics.
• Preparing graphical representations of data.
• Testing surveys to ensure their effectiveness.

Profile

• Enrollment as a student at ETH Zurich or the University of Zurich in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, economics, or mathematics.
• Intermediate coding skills in R, Stata, or Python.
• Basic knowledge of databases (e.g., SQL) and JavaScript is an advantageous plus.

Workplace

You will work in our offices located in the ZUE building (D-MTEC, Zurichbergstrasse 18).

We Offer

This position starts in July or August and continues until December 2025, with the possibility of extension. The anticipated workload per week may vary between 4 and 10 hours, at an hourly wage.
