Student Assistant for Support with Qualitative Interviews - Sustainability & Ethics in Education Initiative

The Strategy and Analytics Team plays a crucial role in integrating sustainability and ethics into teaching and learning at ETH Zurich. Our mission is to empower students to confront global challenges such as climate change, resource justice, and ethical decision-making, equipping them to become 'change agents for a better tomorrow'. We operate proactively and strategically, leveraging data to guide our decisions and shape the future of education at our institution.

As a student assistant, you will contribute significantly to this initiative by providing both organizational and content-related support.

Project Background

Your role will support an initiative focused on promoting sustainability and ethics by collecting teaching examples from various ETH departments and partner universities (ENHANCE+) through qualitative interviews.

Job Description

You will assist the project team in conducting interviews with members of the ETH community, including lecturers, curriculum developers, and student organizations. These interviews aim to gather best practices and develop a comprehensive understanding of the expectations, challenges, and concerns related to sustainability and ethics in education.

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative support for the interviews (e.g., scheduling, gathering follow-up materials)
  • Assisting with transcription and revision of interview transcripts (preparing interviews for knowledge transfer)
  • Conducting literature research to aid in the development of additional teaching offerings
  • Helping organize workshops to engage the ETH community

Profile

  • You are a Bachelor's or Master's student at a Swiss university.
  • You are motivated to help integrate sustainability and ethics into higher education.
  • You are a reliable, efficient, and independent worker.
  • You possess a positive 'can-do' attitude and enjoy providing feedback from a student perspective.
  • You are proficient in MS Office.
  • You have experience in qualitative research through student assistant roles, seminar papers, or theses.
  • You have basic knowledge of interview transcription using Nvivo or similar software.
  • You communicate confidently and precisely in English; proficiency in German is an asset.
