Student Assistant in the International Political Economy and Environmental Politics Group

Position: 10%-30%, Zurich, fixed-term

The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group is seeking a Research Assistant to support ongoing longitudinal survey data collection projects, specifically the Swiss Mobility Panel. This project investigates public opinion dynamics in Switzerland, focusing on environmental and mobility preferences and behaviors, their changes, and how they relate to preferences and behaviors in other policy areas. To address these questions, the team employs a unique methodology that combines survey and geocoded data with survey experiments.

Job Description

  • Program surveys in Qualtrics.
  • Create documentation such as questionnaires, codebooks, and technical reports.
  • Assist the team with data analysis and reporting to third-party stakeholders such as SBB or AMAG.
  • Maintain our custom-made R package and provide support to the research teams.
  • Support panel management tasks, including data cleaning and data storage.

Profile

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and German.
  • Proficient programming skills in R.
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program at a Swiss university.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Strong command of R Markdown and LaTeX.
  • Previous experience with Qualtrics.
  • Willingness and motivation to further develop skills in R and Qualtrics, including programming and spatial data analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in French and/or Italian.
  • Interest in public opinion research and environmental politics.
