Structural Analysis Engineer / Structural Analysis Engineeress

Anavia AG - April 16, 2026

About the Company

ANAVIA specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) systems weighing up to 500 kilograms. Our company is a leader in providing state-of-the-art unmanned helicopter systems tailored for various mission profiles, including Surveillance & Reconnaissance, Inspection, Mapping, and Cargo operations.

Position: Structural Analysis and Test Engineer

As a Structural Analysis and Test Engineer, you will engage in performing detailed finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate the structural integrity of unmanned helicopter components. You will also conduct load and fatigue analyses, analyze composite and metallic structures, execute structural testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless design and performance integration.

Your Main Tasks

  • Structural Analysis and Simulation: Perform detailed finite element analysis (FEA using software such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, ANSYS) to assess the structural integrity of unmanned helicopter components, including rotor heads, propulsion systems, composite structures, and landing gear.
  • Load and Fatigue Analysis: Conduct static, dynamic, vibration, and fatigue analyses to evaluate performance under operational and extreme load conditions, assessing the impact of cyclic loads on rotating machinery and composite materials.
  • Composite and Metallic Structures: Analyze composite layups, bonding interfaces, and hybrid metal-composite structures, ensuring optimized strength-to-weight ratios and compliance with aerospace standards.
  • Test and Correlation: Develop and execute structural testing, including strain gauge instrumentation, accelerometers, and DAQ systems. Correlate test data with FEA predictions to enhance simulation accuracy.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, testing procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, aerodynamic, and software engineering teams to ensure integrated design and performance of the unmanned helicopter systems.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure mechanical designs conform to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in mechanical engineering and UAV technology, integrating best practices into analysis processes.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of industry experience. A Doctoral degree is equivalent to industry experience.

Experience: Proven experience in structural analysis, preferably within the manned helicopter industry. Essential experience includes either composite structures or rotating machinery and components. Hands-on experience with structural testing is desirable.

Skills: Strong understanding of finite element principles, materials science, and failure criteria. Proficiency in FEA software (with ANSYS and Optistruct preferred) and simulation tools.

Communication: Excellent communication skills paired with strong social skills, analytical capabilities, and technical understanding.
