THE WORK

We are seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team within our Custody department. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping our engineering practices, ensuring the reliability and performance of our platform across a multi-cloud environment. You will empower our engineering team to deliver innovative features efficiently while driving improvements in automation, observability, and overall platform stability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure across cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, GCP, and IBM Cloud.
  • Automate various tasks including infrastructure needs, testing, failover solutions, and failure mitigation.
  • Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to ensure system visibility.
  • Develop and maintain our CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential performance bottlenecks and reliability issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to address production incidents and support service engineers with customer incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate and deploy services efficiently.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal platform tools and services.
  • Lead the implementation of best practices for DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) within the organization.
  • Document processes and procedures.
  • Automate any software maintenance processes that previously required manual intervention.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or system operations in high availability, high traffic environments.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures and Linux/Unix administration.
  • Proficiency in databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Experience administering Linux servers and managing docker-based infrastructure (like Kubernetes, AKS, etc.) in highly available environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Go or Bash.
  • Experience with message broker and queue technologies like RabbitMQ and AMQP 1.0.
  • Familiarity with modern monitoring, logging, and observability tools for complex distributed systems, including Application Insights, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Datadog, and Prometheus.
  • Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with GitOps deployment practices using ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and best practices.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify issues before they escalate.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • A commitment to processes, with excellent documentation skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
