As a Staff Data Scientist in Supply Chain, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of On’s supply chain. You are a technical leader within our data science team, responsible for designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge optimization solutions and advanced forecasting models. In this position, you will tackle complex and ambiguous challenges within our supply chain. You will not only build and implement models but also provide strategic guidance, mentor fellow data scientists, and drive the technical roadmap for forecasting at On.

Your Mission

  • Position data science to drive a topline impact on the supply chain by reducing stockouts and ensuring full order fulfillment, through evaluating the landscape and providing clarity on necessary technological, algorithmic, and process-oriented actions.
  • Design, develop, and implement state-of-the-art optimization models to create a more efficient, resilient, and reliable supply chain.
  • Lead complex, end-to-end optimization projects from conception to deployment, ensuring they meet business needs while being scalable and robust.
  • Provide expert guidance on forecasting methodologies and their influence on supply chain optimization and performance.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organization—including Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Product, and Controlling—to align supply chain strategy with data and AI insights.
  • Act as a thought leader in the field of supply chain optimization and forecasting, staying current with the latest research and technologies to identify opportunities for application at On.
  • Mentor and coach other data scientists, offering technical guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of our data science platform and infrastructure, ensuring we have the essential tools and processes for efficient model development and deployment.

Your Story

  • You possess a deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and time-series forecasting, backed by 8+ years of experience in data science with a focus on supply chain optimization. Experience in building forecasting models is also highly regarded.
  • You hold a Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • You are a hands-on data scientist with a strategic mindset, able to lead projects, mentor others, and drive technical decisions.
  • Your expertise includes Python and SQL, and experience with data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch. You have a track record of deploying and maintaining machine learning and optimization models in a production environment.
  • You have experience with optimization software (e.g., Gurobi) and are fluent in large-scale data processing and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
  • You are an effective communicator who can build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, translating complex technical concepts into business terms and driving alignment around proposed solutions.
  • You are passionate about leveraging data to create business impact and are eager to shape the future of On’s supply chain.
