Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technician / Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technicianess

Fun Ride GmbH - December 18, 2025

About Us

FUN RIDE GmbH operates the Hopp E-Scooter sharing service across Switzerland. We manage a live fleet of connected, smart e-scooters, providing sustainable mobility solutions. Our operations combine advanced IoT, field diagnostics, and real-time fleet optimization.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technician who possesses a unique blend of field operations expertise. This role focuses on creating new hotspots to enhance the usage and coverage of our service, particularly during station changes and preventive damage diagnostics. Hands-on experience in e-scooter mechanical repairs within a shared mobility context is essential.

This hybrid position demands a comprehensive understanding of shared e-scooter fleet behavior, in-field repairs, early damage detection, and the manual creation of hotspots based on rider flow and environmental patterns. Experience specifically within e-scooter sharing operations is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Rebalancing & Hotspot Creation:
    • Perform daily and advanced rebalancing across micro-zones based on demand and heatmaps, while considering local terrain and weather conditions.
    • Maintain the fleet's battery percentage above 90% and ensure fleet availability exceeds 95% daily.
    • Independently create, optimize, and adjust hotspot zones using field observations and operational patterns.
    • Manually optimize distribution routes, identifying and reducing "dead zones" and areas of low availability.
  • Preventive Damage Diagnostics:
    • Detect early-stage mechanical and structural wear, including stem play, deck micro-fractures, and brake tension issues.
    • Identify damage progression resulting from misuse, vandalism, or environmental factors.
    • Document and evaluate repair-prevention opportunities to minimize downtime.
    • Conduct real-time health checks during field operations.
  • In-Field Mechanical & Electronic Repairs:
    • Perform mobile repairs on mechanical, electrical, and IoT components without the need for workshop equipment.
    • Diagnose controller, harness, and sensor anomalies on-site.
    • Return units to service with minimal downtime.
  • Train junior team members: Provide training in micromobility-specific repair and diagnostic processes.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a shared e-scooter fleet environment.
  • Experience with real-time diagnostics and field-based hotspot creation, understanding the factors that drive service usage (peak hours, weather, weekdays, weekends, seasons, events).
  • Ability to perform in-field mechanical and electronic repairs on shared micromobility vehicles.
  • Capability to diagnose early-stage structural and mechanical failures specific to shared scooter fleets.
  • Knowledge of different e-scooter models and hardware.
  • Experience maintaining high fleet uptime and availability KPIs.
  • Willingness to work diverse shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

Vocational training in a technical field (mechanics, electronics, mechatronics) or equivalent practical experience in shared micromobility operations is preferred.

Languages

A good command of English is required for internal communication and use of digital tools.
