Join Our Data Circle
Within our Data Circle, composed of four dedicated professionals, we build data infrastructures and services aimed at enhancing research and education across Switzerland and Europe. We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect & Developer with a robust background in creating data solutions based on metadata and data warehouses to join us for this exciting project-based role lasting approximately 34 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of a unified metadata schema based on various existing schemas and establish a metadata warehouse with extensible plugins to support AI-driven discovery.
- Co-develop advanced search features, including indexing, vector and graph search, and LLM/RAG-based approaches in collaboration with project partners.
- Assist in integrating FAIR metadata assessment tools and develop a user-friendly interface connected to the metadata warehouse.
- Contribute to the overall system architecture and provide support to the Data Team with data pipelines, harvesting, knowledge graphs, and code quality.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the following expertise:
- Expertise in data and metadata management.
- Extensive experience with relational databases and data warehouses, including data modeling, normalization, and SQL.
- Solid background in metadata harvesting, transformation, and storage.
- Familiarity with metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core) and various data formats (JSON, XML, CSV).
- Experience in designing and managing complex metadata structures, including versioning.
- Expertise in search and discovery technologies.
- Practical experience with vector databases (e.g., embeddings, index search), graph databases (e.g., SPARQL), and recommendation engines (e.g., OpenSearch).
Additional Technical Knowledge
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript, along with DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines).
- Basic understanding of modern UI frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript).
Mindset & Interests
A strong interest in AI-driven technologies (e.g., LLMs) and the motivation to support Open Science and contribute to the advancement of research are essential.
