Job Opportunity: Socio-Educational Assistants (ASE)

The Migration & Integration Department of Romandy, a branch of Caritas Switzerland in Fribourg, is dedicated to supporting and integrating recognized refugees in the canton of Fribourg under state mandate. Our Integration Service comprises a multidisciplinary team of 30 professionals across five specialized areas.

Our mission is to foster sustainable professional and social integration for refugees. We work closely with beneficiaries, both individually and in groups, to assess their needs and skills, develop personalized strategies, and collaborate with other services and external partners.

Position Overview

To enhance our early childhood team, the Integration Service is seeking one or two Socio-Educational Assistants (ASE) for a fixed-term position. The daycare operates Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 5 PM. Please note that the daycare will be closed from December 21, 2026, to January 1, 2027, and from February 8, 2027, to February 19, 2027.

Your Responsibilities

• Contribute to the smooth operation, planning, and dynamics of the daycare.
• Participate in managing registrations.
• Welcome children and their parents, providing active support during the separation process.
• Organize and lead a variety of recreational and creative activities.
• Manage routine purchases such as snacks, activity materials, and other supplies.
• Implement and apply the educational concept of the childcare structure on a daily basis.
• Provide a safe, educational, and stimulating environment for children.
• Supervise assistants and interns working in the daycare.
• Participate in team meetings to enhance collaboration and effectiveness.

Our Requirements

• A diploma in socio-educational assistance (ASE) with at least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong ability to relate to children aged 6 months to 8 years, as well as their families.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Aptitude for working with groups of up to 20 children in a multicultural environment.
• Exemplary work ethics and a caring professional demeanor.
• Demonstrated sense of responsibility and professionalism in child care and protection.
• Fluent in French; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Submission of ordinary and special extracts from the criminal record will be required before commencing work.

Additional Information

The work location is in Fribourg, with a starting date of October 26, 2026, or to be agreed upon. This is a fixed-term contract until March 19, 2027.
