Bavarian Nordic Berna GmbH - April 14, 2026

Join Bavarian Nordic in Our Mission

At Bavarian Nordic, we are committed to saving and improving lives by unlocking the power of the immune system. Our commercial product portfolio includes market-leading vaccines against smallpox, mpox, rabies, tick-borne encephalitis, typhoid fever, and cholera. With a focus on R&D innovation, manufacturing, and commercialization, we strive to enhance health and quality of life worldwide, safeguarding our future.

The Role

We are seeking a Manufacturing & Supply Chain Operations Lead to act as the business design authority for the Plan‑to‑Make global process within our ERP business transformation. This role emphasizes site-specific manufacturing and supply chain processes while ensuring alignment with global standards and enterprise templates. You will contribute to defining standardized end-to-end operational processes across sites that accurately reflect shop‑floor realities, planning needs, and biopharma regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the transition from a finance-focused system to a comprehensive ERP platform, especially the migration from SAP to D365 in Bern. You will own the Manufacturing and Supply Chain project charter, which involves stream planning, roadmap integration, and ensuring data readiness for ERP migration through quality KPIs, validation, and business sign-off.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with Manufacturing and Supply Chain leadership in Bern, local planning, logistics and master data teams, Global Process Owners, Process Managers, and ERP partners to deliver scalable, compliant, and operationally robust solutions.

This position reports to the Head of Digital Transformation, Supply Chain, is based in Bern/Thörishaus, and requires 2–3 on‑site days per week during key phases, with travel between Switzerland and Denmark. This is a project-based assignment lasting 2–2½ years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co‑lead the definition of future-state manufacturing and supply chain processes (L0–L4) in alignment with global templates, ensuring end‑to‑end integration across production, planning, quality, and adjacent processes.
  • Represent shop‑floor and regulatory requirements in ERP and solution design, validating manufacturing flows including batch/campaign management, BOMs/formulas, yields, changeovers, equipment constraints, and maintenance integration.
  • Ensure alignment between manufacturing execution and supply chain planning, covering demand, capacity, scheduling, inventory, and material availability with full end‑to‑end visibility.
  • Embed GMP/GxP, validation, and compliance requirements into process design, including lot disposition, LIMS integration, CSV deliverables, and SOP alignment.
  • Define and govern manufacturing master data and support site readiness activities, including cutover, go‑live, and act as key user for supply chain and production systems.
  • Drive change enablement through clear operator instructions, training, and establishment of a robust Super User network to ensure adoption across manufacturing sites.

What You Bring

To succeed in this role, a proven track record with solid experience in process design and standardization across multiple sites is essential. You should possess the ability to bridge business and technology, collaborating effectively with ERP consultants and IT. Deep expertise in ERP platforms (D365 or SAP) and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives is crucial. Additionally, we seek candidates with the following skills:

  • Strong communication and influencing abilities, capable of connecting strategic vision to operational execution.
  • 8+ years of experience in biopharma manufacturing with robust GxP knowledge.
  • Full proficiency in both English and German – written and spoken is mandatory.

Why This Role

This is a unique opportunity to shape the digital future of Bavarian Nordic at a crucial time in our transformation journey. You’ll be at the forefront of a global ERP rollout and digital innovation agenda, bridging business, IT, and advanced technologies like AI and analytics.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally with senior stakeholders, lead strategic pilots, and help build scalable solutions that support a highly regulated biopharma environment. If you’re passionate about driving real change, influencing enterprise-wide decisions, and enhancing digital capabilities, this position offers significant impact and visibility.
