In the Category Area Transport, we are responsible for procuring, developing, and operating all transport capacities in the IKEA Supply Chain. This category area includes two segments: Category Land and Category Ocean & Air.

Job Description

As a Service Provider Operations Developer in Category Ocean & Air, you will:

  • Lead, develop, and secure the operational setup within your assigned region (North Europe & Americas).
  • Establish and maintain close collaboration with various IKEA transport teams, the Control Tower, and nominated ocean carriers.
  • Provide operational leadership towards defined carriers for the entire region.
  • Own and manage the operational performance from both sending and receiving perspectives.
  • Ensure demand is met and effectively manage the carrier capacity offered to IKEA.
  • Maintain system setups to facilitate booking of ocean carriers for exports and imports to/from assigned countries, ensuring accuracy in information within IKEA systems (LBD, ITM).
  • Lead tender-related sub-processes, ensuring operational requirements are secured.
  • Coordinate tender implementation activities with all internal and external stakeholders for a seamless transition to the new ocean year.
  • Develop business initiatives within your trade lane and apply local operational knowledge for end-to-end improvement.

This position carries a significant international dimension, as you will interact daily with other Service Provider Operations Developers across EU, Asia Pacific, and the Americas, as well as various internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

About You

We are looking for you if you possess the following:

  • Expertise in operations within supply chain management, with a strong track record in driving operational excellence.
  • Proven background in ocean shipping and/or freight forwarding; customs experience is a plus.
  • A university degree or equivalent education in Logistics, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the transport business or supply chain function.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access).
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is a prerequisite.
  • A strong business and people orientation.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and capable of organizing, structuring, and prioritizing multiple tasks independently.
