Job Offer: Graduate Intern (Stagiaire)

Le Régent is seeking to appoint a Graduate Intern (Stagiaire) to assist and support the school's work in areas appropriate to their skills and expertise and to become involved in the broader life of the Régent community. The stagiaire will be attached to the boys’ boarding house in the secondary/senior building.

This is a residential position from 5 April 2024 to 30 June 2024. It would suit a recently qualified graduate student looking to take a break after their studies or who is considering the teaching profession in the future.

About Le Régent

Founded in 2015, Le Régent is a rapidly developing Swiss boarding and day school with an international academic programme. Nearly 250 students from Switzerland and around the world are educated in a modern campus in the heart of the Valais Alps in the attractive and lively ski and summer resort of Crans-Montana. Le Régent follows a rigorous academic programme in English in preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the Le Régent Graduation Diploma while nurturing each student's talents with its diverse extracurricular offering, including sports, arts, music, and mountain activities.

Overview of Duties

Duties are varied and tailored to the skills and ambitions of the stagiaire but cover many aspects of school life. These might include any of the following:

  • Classroom or sports assistant
  • Library duty
  • Accompanying students in sports or outings
  • Boarding duties

The employee may be called on to work during the day, evening, and weekends. A typical working week will be 42.5 hours. The employee’s timetable is created based on school needs and may include supporting students in and out of classes as well as boarding duties. The employee is required to attend all induction, INSET days, and staff meetings in the school calendar and be available on campus to support the boarding houses and students’ transfers for approximately 48 hours after students’ departure and 48 hours before students’ arrival.

  • A gross monthly allowance of CHF 1,600.-
  • If applicable, air travel to and from Le Régent from the airport at the stagiaire’s place of origin at the beginning and end of the contract (up to a maximum of CHF 500 return)
  • Board (three meals a day), lodging (a student room with an en-suite bathroom at the very least and larger if available, in a Régent boarding house), use of Le Régent’s sports facilities during term time. Accommodation will be available 48 hours before the start of the contract and 48 hours following the end of the contract.
  • Health and accident insurance
  • Liability insurance: the intern is responsible for taking it out (and cancelling it) but is reimbursed by the school
  • Right to end-of-term holidays (December and March). The stagiaire is expected to work during the October mid-term break and the long weekend (to be defined at the start of the term)
  • The half-fare travel card (SBB/CFF)
  • The ski pass for Crans-Montana

Requirements

We are looking for flexibility, energy, and experience working with children. The ability to drive a car as well as a liking for outdoor activities and sports is a distinct advantage, as is a readiness to live in an alpine environment.
