Sensor Fusion Engineer / Sensor Fusion Engineeress

Daedalean AG - September 5, 2025

About Us

Daedalean is a Zürich-based startup founded by seasoned engineers on a mission to revolutionize air travel within the next decade. We harness the power of computer vision, deep learning, and robotics to develop full “level-5” autonomy for flying vehicles.

Your Role

Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the integration of additional sensors, such as radar and lidar, into Daedalean's diverse systems. This initiative goes beyond mere camera-based environment perception, aiming to enhance accuracy and reliability, and expand usability across a wider range of environmental conditions.

Your Tasks Will Include

  • Researching, analyzing, and selecting sensors suitable for our products and applications.
  • Preparing raw sensor data for fusion, encompassing tasks such as data alignment, synchronization, calibration, noise reduction, and outlier handling to ensure data compatibility and quality.
  • Designing and implementing algorithms that integrate data from various sensor modalities (e.g., cameras, lidar, radar, IMUs, GPS) to create a unified and robust perception of the surroundings. This may involve leveraging techniques from data fusion, signal processing, and machine learning.
  • Collaborating with hardware and software teams to integrate sensors and sensor fusion algorithms into our prototypes and products.
  • Testing new sensors and validating sensor fusion algorithms in both simulated environments and real-world scenarios to ensure accuracy, reliability, and safety.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with at least two of the following sensor types: radar, lidar, cameras.
  • In-depth knowledge of various sensor types (lidar, radar, cameras, IMUs, GPS), including their operating principles, strengths, weaknesses, and data characteristics.
  • Proficient programming skills in C++.
  • Experience with sensor fusion algorithms.
  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Benefits

  • A team of accomplished engineers and researchers, many of whom have joined us from renowned companies and institutions.
  • Engaging and complex challenges to tackle.
  • A hybrid work environment.
  • Learning & Development budget to attend conferences of your choice.
  • Gym membership.
