Job Title: Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and AI Strategy

We are looking for a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate Development and AI Strategy to collaborate directly with our CEO and CFO. This role is vital in sourcing, structuring, and executing mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and investment deals, as well as overseeing our AI strategy.
Role Overview
The SVP of Corporate Development and AI Strategy will focus on sourcing, structuring, and executing corporate transactions and strategic initiatives to advance the company’s business plan. This includes supervising the implementation of our AI platform and ecosystem strategy.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in assessing and communicating key transaction implications (commercial, accounting, legal) in English, perform financial analysis and modeling, drive data-backed decision-making throughout the deal lifecycle, and manage multi-party transactions within strict timelines and regulatory frameworks. Prior experience in AI and data science is highly desirable.
This is a part-time role at 80%, with the potential to increase to 100%.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Structuring & Execution:
- Lead due diligence on financial, tax, and commercial fronts.
- Model various structuring scenarios and advise on optimal deal terms.
- Orchestrate multiple workstreams—financial, legal, operational—on long-term projects with tight deadlines.
- Lead Advanced Financial Analysis:
- Build, audit, and maintain complex Excel-based financial models to support partnership valuations and scenario planning.
- Conduct thorough analyses of target financial statements—P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow—and present actionable insights to the C-suite.
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Strategy:
- Oversee the technical strategy, architecture, and execution of our AI platform and ecosystem.
- Establish technical and data partnerships with leading AI infrastructure layer providers.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience:
- A robust professional background in investment banking within a highly regulated sector, specifically financial services, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in investment banking. Relevant professional exposure to the UK and US investment markets is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in executing corporate finance deals, including mergers, acquisitions, strategic investments, and capital raises (both equity and debt), with at least 10 years of knowledge regarding financing instruments.
- Thorough expertise in financial modeling using Excel, capable of performing comprehensive financial statement analyses and building three-statement models to understand the financial impacts of corporate transactions.
Preferred Technical Experience:
As xcube.bio develops its innovative AI platform, the selected leader will play a crucial role in its incubation and strategy execution. Skills anticipated include:
- Prior coding experience (VBA, Python).
- Initial experience in AI and data science is highly desirable.
- A commitment to ongoing academic engagement and keeping informed about scientific research in AI and data science is preferred.
Education & Qualifications:
- Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or similar) from top-tier institutions.
- Accounting qualifications (e.g., CFA charter holder) are highly desired.
