Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate Development and AI Strategy to partner directly with our CEO and CFO in sourcing, structuring, and executing M&A, partnership, and investment deals while overseeing the execution of our AI strategy.
The SVP will focus on sourcing, structuring, and executing corporate transactions and other strategic initiatives to progress the company’s business plan, including overseeing the execution of our AI platform and ecosystem strategy. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in assessing and communicating key transaction implications (commercial, accounting, legal) in English, conducting financial analysis and modeling, and driving data-backed decision-making across every stage of the deal lifecycle. Furthermore, managing multi-party transactions within tight timelines and strict regulatory frameworks is a critical aspect of this role. Initial experience in AI and data science is highly desirable.
The proposed role is part-time at 80%, with the potential to increase to 100%.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Structuring & Execution:
- Lead due diligence on financial, tax, and commercial fronts.
- Model various structuring scenarios and advise on optimal deal terms.
- Orchestrate multiple workstreams—financial, legal, operational—on long-term projects with tight deadlines.
- Advanced Financial Analysis:
- Build, audit, and maintain complex Excel-based financial models to support partnership valuations and scenario planning.
- Conduct in-depth analyses of target financial statements—P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow—and present actionable insights to the C-suite.
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Strategy:
- Oversee the technical strategy, architecture, and execution of our AI platform and ecosystem.
- Structure technical and data partnerships with leading AI infrastructure layer providers.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience:
- A strong professional track record in investment banking, particularly within highly regulated sectors such as financial services. A minimum of 15 years of experience in investment banking is required, and relevant experience in the UK and US investment markets is highly desired.
- Proven expertise in leading the execution of corporate finance deals, including mergers, acquisitions, strategic investments, and capital raises (both equity and debt), with a deep understanding of financing instrument structures (minimum 10 years of experience).
- Deep expertise in financial modeling with Excel to undertake financial statement analysis—capable of building three-statement models to understand the financial effects of corporate transactions.
Preferred Technical Experience:
At xcube.bio, we are building an AI platform that differentiates our company in the market. This leader will play a pivotal role in incubating the platform and overseeing the strategy and execution of this program. Anticipated skills include:
- Prior coding experience (e.g., VBA, Python).
- Initial experience in AI and data science is highly desirable.
- Ongoing academic engagement and staying abreast of scientific research in AI and data science is desirable.
Education & Qualifications:
- Undergraduate and Master's degrees in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or similar) from top-tier institutions.
- Accounting qualifications (e.g., CFA charter holder) are highly desired.
