Your Role
Reporting directly to the Global Head of Marine & Energy, you will collaborate with our team to grow a profitable and diversified portfolio. This role includes all underwriting-related functions associated with the administration of a global book of new and renewal Marine & Energy reinsurance business handled by both Echo Re and DEVK Re.
Your Main Tasks
- Underwriting Marine & Energy treaty business in accordance with Echo Re & DEVK Re underwriting and pricing guidelines.
- Assisting with the optimization of the existing portfolio and allocated capacity.
- Positioning Echo Re & DEVK Re as increasingly important players in the Marine & Energy reinsurance market.
- Collaborating with the Global Head of Marine & Energy and the responsible P&C Regional Managers to design the overall market and client strategy within the Underwriting Plan process.
- Taking responsibility for the implementation of the Underwriting Plan, including the Consolidated Planning Tool (CPT) process.
- Implementing measures necessary to safeguard the profitability of the Marine & Energy business portfolio.
- Visiting markets and clients to identify, develop, and maintain relationships with new and existing clients and brokers.
- Representing Echo Re & DEVK Re at industry events such as conferences.
- Maintaining close working relationships with Pricing Actuaries & Regional Managers.
- Providing a high level of quality for SICS administration of the portfolio together with Underwriting Assistants.
- Reviewing and approving claims with the Claims Department in accordance with Claims Guidelines.
Your Profile
- University degree in a relevant subject or professionally qualified with a recognized insurance qualification (ACII or other local equivalent).
- A minimum of 10 years of reinsurance underwriting experience in the Marine and Energy segment, ideally with exposure to the London market.
- An enthusiastic and forward-looking mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent team player with effective communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities to engage with business partners and internal stakeholders.
- Technical, analytical, and results-oriented mindset.
- Proficient knowledge of MS-Office products, especially Excel.
- Very good command of English is required, with additional language skills considered an advantage.
