Job Title: Senior Trader

To further expand our already established business, we are seeking a Senior Trader to join our team, specializing in the proprietary trading of energy commodities, including power, gas, coal, and emission allowances. The primary goal of this role is to achieve consistent profits through strategic trading initiatives.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Engage in proprietary trading of power and related products such as spark spreads, EUAs, natural gas, and coal within the wholesale energy market, with a main focus on the Central Western European (CWE) region.
  • Concentrate on mid and long-term trading products, typically spanning from one month ahead to two years.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with market participants.
  • Develop and maintain market research tools and conduct market analysis.
  • Generate positive PnL by identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities based on thorough analysis of market conditions.
  • Demonstrate success in managing a profitable power trading book.
  • Ensure the Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system operates to the required standards, maintaining accurate and secure records.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within the company and the EPH Group.

Qualification Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of international work experience in commodity trading, with a profound understanding of the commodity industry and market dynamics.
  • A minimum of 8 years of comprehensive experience in power and gas trading, particularly within the European commodity markets (especially in Switzerland, Germany, and the UK).
  • At least 8 years of experience in optimizing gas and power portfolios, demonstrating a solid understanding of power trading dynamics.
  • A proven track record in business process and data management.
  • An established network with other market participants and industry players in the CWE region.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and structured thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member.
  • Creativity and independent problem-solving skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to generate trading profits in energy markets.
