Job Title: Senior Trader - Energy Commodities

To further expand our existing business, we are seeking a Senior Trader to join our team, focusing on proprietary trading of energy commodities including power, gas, coal, and emission allowances. The main objective is to achieve consistent profits through strategic market engagement.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Engage in proprietary trading of power and related products such as spark spreads, EUAs, natural gas, and coal within the wholesale energy market, primarily in the CWE region.
  • Focus on mid- and long-term products, typically trading horizons range from one month ahead to two years in the future.
  • Build and foster positive relationships with market participants.
  • Develop and maintain tools for market research and analysis.
  • Generate positive profit and loss (PnL) while capitalizing on market opportunities through in-depth market condition analysis.
  • Showcase success in managing a profitable power trading portfolio.
  • Ensure the ETRM system is managed to maintain accurate and secure records.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within the company and the EPH Group.

Qualification Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of international work experience in commodity trading, with a profound understanding of the commodity industry and market dynamics.
  • At least 8 years of comprehensive experience in power and gas trading, particularly within the European commodity markets, focusing on Switzerland, Germany, and the UK.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in optimizing gas and power portfolios, with a deep understanding of power trading dynamics.
  • Proven track record in business process and data management.
  • An established network with market participants and industry players in the CWE region.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with structured thinking capabilities.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a cohesive team.
  • Creative and independent in problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate trading profits in energy markets.
