Job Title: Footwear Tooling Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated Footwear Tooling Engineer who will serve as the main point of contact and leader for the bottom unit in the footwear development process. In this role, you will collaborate closely with designers, developers, and our sourcing hub in Asia, ensuring a seamless transition from concept creation to prototyping and production. You will also work in partnership with our Innovation and Sport engineering teams to help validate and bring high-performance products and technologies to market.
Your Mission
- Provide technical design constraints and solutions, material choices, and product construction input, utilizing your knowledge of materials, mold construction, and manufacturing methods.
- Act as the bottom unit leader for products across multiple verticals and projects, including both Inline and Innovation.
- Analyze and improve product designs for manufacturability and durability, offering solutions while achieving quality and performance targets. Your proficiency in 2D-3D modeling will support these objectives.
- Utilize your understanding of cost implications related to individual molding methods and tooling designs to provide recommendations.
- Assist the product management and design teams with any tooling-related questions or issues, collaborating effectively with our Asian counterparts and supporting mold shop teams.
Your Qualifications
- A higher education degree in Engineering or Design fields.
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, with close involvement in development and production, preferably in footwear (FTW).
- Experience working with 2D and 3D CAD files, ideally in Rhinoceros. Familiarity with simulation (FEA) is a bonus.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work with multiple deadlines.
- Technical knowledge in materials, manufacturing processes, and plastic molding, with a strong understanding of the footwear industry.
- Proven expertise in project management, costing, quality assurance, and the ability to provide innovative solutions within complex constraints.
- Fluent in English.
