Job Description
The Biomedical Research RNAi Initiative is looking for a dedicated and creative scientist to join our RNA synthesis team. This role requires collaborative work in a multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of research and development, focusing on the discovery and development of novel siRNA therapies for high unmet medical needs.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan and execute small-scale oligonucleotide syntheses using array-based, automated synthetic technologies.
- Conduct experiments in a state-of-the-art laboratory and provide novel siRNAs to advance therapeutic siRNA projects.
- Collaborate with the project team to integrate experimental data, develop scientific hypotheses, and prioritize oligonucleotide chemistries to address key project questions.
- Support and coach team members by sharing your knowledge and expertise within the work environment.
- Discuss and communicate scientific results at internal meetings and research boards.
- Maintain high levels of laboratory safety and upkeep of infrastructure.
What You Will Bring to the Role
- A Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a Pharma Lab, particularly in synthetic organic chemistry. PhD graduates within 6 months of their defense may also be considered. Please note that this role primarily involves wet lab activities and does not include team management responsibilities.
- Proven practical knowledge in small-scale oligonucleotide synthesis.
- Familiarity with conjugation to linkers, modifiers, and payloads is considered a plus.
- A strong passion for automated oligonucleotide chemistry experimentation.
- Ability to critically interpret results, formulate new experimental hypotheses, and make decisive, calculated choices.
- An interest in disruptive technologies and current scientific trends, especially new drug modalities and automation, and their implications for drug discovery and development.
- A mindset of curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and openness to diverse thinking, with enthusiasm for personal and professional growth.
- An organized working style, keen attention to detail, flexibility, and a commitment to high quality.
- Aptitude for thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented matrix environment, contributing to discussions and advancements in siRNA discovery and development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
