The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich is seeking experienced scientists who specialize in the field of manufacturing. The initial appointment will be at the scientific collaborator level (non-permanent), with the intention of promoting to senior scientist (permanent) and awarding an Adjunct Professor title in alignment with ETH regulations.

This position is anticipated to be part of ETH’s Center for Manufacturing, which will be established in the coming months. The selected candidate will contribute to the development and execution of educational and mentoring activities and supervise doctoral students in the domain of subtractive manufacturing and machine tools. Additionally, they will play a key role in acquiring and coordinating industry-focused projects that involve many ETH students and researchers. Collaborative opportunities with inspire AG, ETH’s strategic partner for technology transfer to the mechanical, electrical, and metal (MEM) industries, will also be available.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in engineering and an excellent track record in academic and/or industrial research related to the specified topics. A strong motivation for teaching, especially in project-based courses integrating hands-on learning experiences, is essential. At MAVT, undergraduate courses are taught in both German and English, while graduate-level courses are offered in English. Your qualifications should enhance research and teaching at the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing (IWF) and the Institute for Virtual Manufacturing (IVP).
