The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich invites experienced scientists specializing in manufacturing to join our team. The initial appointment will be at the scientific collaborator level (non-permanent), with the opportunity for promotion to senior scientist (permanent) and the potential awarding of an Adjunct Professor title in accordance with ETH regulations.

This position is part of ETH’s Center for Manufacturing, which is set to be established in the coming months. The selected candidate will contribute to the development and execution of educational and mentoring activities, and will supervise doctoral students in the area of subtractive manufacturing and machine tools. Additionally, the role involves the acquisition and coordination of industry-focused projects, engaging numerous ETH students and researchers. Collaboration opportunities with inspire AG, ETH’s strategic partner for technology transfer to the mechanical, electrical, and metal (MEM) industries, are also available.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in engineering and possess an excellent track record in academic and/or industrial research related to the outlined topics. A strong commitment to teaching, particularly in project-based courses that emphasize hands-on learning experiences, is essential. At MAVT, undergraduate courses are offered in German or English, while graduate courses are conducted in English. Your expertise should complement the research and teaching missions at the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing (IWF) and the Institute for Virtual Manufacturing (IVP).
