The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich invites experienced scientists specializing in manufacturing to join our team. The initial appointment will be made at the scientific collaborator level (non-permanent), with the intention of promoting to senior scientist (permanent) and awarding the title of Adjunct Professor in accordance with ETH regulations.

This role is anticipated to be part of ETH’s Center for Manufacturing, which will be established in the coming months. The selected candidate will assist in the development and execution of educational and mentoring activities, as well as supervise doctoral students in the area of subtractive manufacturing and machine tools. Additionally, this position will involve acquiring and coordinating industry-focused projects in collaboration with ETH students and researchers and offers collaboration opportunities with inspire AG, ETH’s strategic partner for technology transfer in the mechanical, electrical, and metal (MEM) industries.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in engineering and have an outstanding track record in academic and/or industrial research related to the specified topics. A strong motivation for teaching, particularly in project-based courses incorporating hands-on learning experiences, is essential. At MAVT, undergraduate level courses are taught in German or English, while graduate level courses are delivered in English. Ideal candidates will complement research and teaching at the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing (IWF) and the Institute for Virtual Manufacturing (IVP).
