You will be joining our Advanced Technology team, a group that pushes the limits of robot autonomy and intelligence. In this role, you will evaluate cutting-edge AI, planning, and control technologies—from novel environment perception to advanced planning—aiming to tackle the toughest real-world deployment challenges. Collaborating closely with engineers and partners, you will assess new technologies, design proof-of-concept experiments, and build research prototypes, effectively transferring promising ideas to our product teams. Market & Technology

ANYbotics is transforming industrial plants in the renewable energy, process, and utility sectors by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that were previously beyond reach. Our mobile robot, ANYmal, utilizes legs for extreme mobility in complex environments and employs camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance to perform tasks and deliver high-quality, consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics electrical hardware.

Your Contributions

  • Exploring, developing, and implementing cutting-edge technological advancements in robotics, machine learning, planning, and control.
  • Identifying emerging technologies, conducting in-depth evaluations, and translating these findings into innovative products.
  • Developing prototypes and conducting pilot projects to test new technologies in controlled environments.
  • Driving collaborations with tech startups, research institutions, and industry leaders to leverage external expertise and accelerate innovation.
  • Working closely with engineering teams for the adoption and integration of new technologies into existing systems and processes, ensuring seamless transitions.

Your Profile

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in a research or advanced development setting.
  • Extensive expertise in modern deep reinforcement learning techniques and architectures, with hands-on experience in training and fine-tuning these systems.
  • Proficient in designing and deploying state-of-the-art control and planning algorithms for real-world robotics or autonomous systems.
  • Strong practical experience across the MLOps pipeline—from data collection and curation to training, fine-tuning, and GPU-based deployment in embedded or edge systems.
  • Experienced in fast prototyping, concept validation, and rapid iteration—using experimentation as a core development tool.
  • Self-coordinating with excellent project ownership, capable of structuring work independently, aligning with strategic goals, and delivering meaningful outcomes.
  • Proficient programming skills in C++ and Python, with the ability to write clean and efficient code.
  • Familiarity with GPU programming, with a desire to deepen knowledge and improve performance tuning as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively share knowledge and insights.
