Senior Reliability Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team in the high-tech opto-electronic and photonic field. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our advanced opto-electronic systems and components. This position involves data analysis, identifying potential issues, and implementing solutions to enhance system reliability and minimize downtime.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Reliability Strategies: Design and implement strategies and metrics to improve the reliability and performance of opto-electronic systems.
- Reliability Testing: Develop and execute reliability test plans based on industrial standards, including accelerated life testing and environmental stress testing.
- Analyze Product Failure Data: Accumulate and analyze data on system performance and failures to identify patterns and trends.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough root cause analysis to determine the underlying causes of reliability issues.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure reliability is integrated into all stages of product development.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in reliability processes and methodologies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of reliability activities and prepare comprehensive reports on findings and recommendations.
Key Interactions
Reports to Engineering Manager. Interacts with product development engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams. Supports product development projects and collaborates with project managers while engaging with product managers.
Leadership Expectations
Manages own tasks, projects, and KPIs within the reliability group. Oversees competencies and job requirements, while effectively managing the expectations of project teams and stakeholder groups. Provides technical guidance and training to junior engineers and other team members.
Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Travel
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field. Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or equivalent certification is a plus.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in reliability engineering, preferably in the opto-electronic or photonic industry. Experience with opto-electronic systems and components is advantageous.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, preparing, and conducting reliability tests. Proficiency in reliability analysis tools and techniques, such as FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and reliability modeling. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to reliability engineering, as well as statistical analysis software and reliability prediction tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets. A curious mindset, eager to understand the products and how different components or processes can influence product reliability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Travel Expectations
5% annually, potentially globally.
