Senior Purchasing Manager

Location: Lincoln (On-site, Mon-Fri)

Salary: £55K-£60K + bonus

A leading multinational company within the manufacturing industry is seeking to appoint a Senior Purchasing Manager as part of their global team. This role will report directly to the Supply Chain Director and is responsible for the leadership, governance, and commercial performance of all direct and indirect purchasing activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing and category strategies.
• Ensure continuity of supply and achieve sustainable cost improvements.
• Maintain a competitive, capable, and compliant supply base.
• Lead cross-functional purchasing activities with various departments, including Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, and Commercial teams.
• Provide insights to the Supply Chain Director and leadership team on material commercial opportunities, supplier risks, cost exposures, and key decisions requiring senior authority.

Qualifications and Skills

• Substantial purchasing or procurement management experience within manufacturing.
• Proven leadership skills with ownership of strategic and tactical purchasing across direct and indirect spend.
• Strong experience in category management, competitive tendering, negotiation, contracts, and procurement governance.
• Demonstrated success in delivering cost reductions, enhancing supplier performance, and improving supply risk management.
• Strong commercial, financial, and analytical judgment, with proficient use of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of ethical sourcing, Modern Slavery, anti-bribery, and supplier compliance requirements.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively.
• Fluency in English (C1 Level) both spoken and written.

Candidates with a CIPS qualification or equivalent, especially those with a background in polymers, rubber, chemical, or engineering sectors, are highly desirable.
