Your Role

As a Project Engineer in Power Systems at ABB, a leader in technology, electrification, automation, and digitalization, you will be an integral part of an engaged international project team. You will play a crucial role in delivering innovative technical solutions to our clients.

The work model for this role is: #LI-Hybrid

This position contributes to the Process Industries division based in Switzerland.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop Power Distribution designs from conceptual to detailed stages for a variety of equipment, including MV switchgears, Low Voltage MCCs, Transformers, and more. Your expertise will be essential in design reviews and clarifying technical project aspects.
• Prepare and review an extensive array of technical documents, such as single line diagrams, load lists, specifications, wiring diagrams, layouts, and power system protection philosophies.
• Collaborate with team members across disciplines—such as control systems, infrastructure, and drives—to ensure seamless integration with power distribution systems.
• Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders (including customers and equipment suppliers) throughout procurement and delivery phases, ensuring equipment aligns with project requirements.

Qualifications

• A master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power distribution or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in power systems, functioning as a senior project engineer or project lead engineer.
• In-depth knowledge of energy distribution concepts, electrical network studies, sizing and specifying primary and secondary equipment, and experience with MV switchgears and LV MCC projects, including digital protection relays and IEC61850 engineering.
• High self-motivation, curiosity, and a willingness to learn about new technologies.
• Proven leadership capabilities, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach, along with strong communication skills.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
• Willingness to travel abroad approximately 25%.
