Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking to appoint a Project Engineer in the area of Drive Applications. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, engineering, commissioning, and testing electric drive systems. This includes customized products fitted to mills, high-pressure grinding rolls, conveyors, fans, and pumps used in the minerals processing industry.

The work model for this role is: #LI-Hybrid.

This position contributes to the Process Industries division in Switzerland.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design technical solutions for electric drive systems, ensuring the clarification and coordination of all relevant engineering aspects during project execution.
  • Develop application-specific control platform features for MV Drives (ACS6080).
  • Oversee commissioning and maintenance of MV drive systems at customer sites worldwide, including troubleshooting.
  • Issue and review conceptual designs, technical specifications, data sheets, project documents, and customer documentation; support sales, service, and R&D with technical knowledge about MV drive systems and its dedicated use in grinding applications.

Qualifications for the Role

  • M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on Power Electronics/Drive Technology.
  • 3-5 years of experience in MV drive technology.
  • Technical knowledge of the latest ABB MV drive system control platform (UCON, Sandbox, Crealizer™), as well as experience related to commissioning and service activities.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a multicultural environment.
  • Strong command of English at a technical/engineering level (both written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel globally for commissioning and service assignments to remote sites (approximately 25% of working hours and up to several weeks per assignment).
