Your Role
As a Project Engineer in Power Systems at ABB, a global leader in technology, electrification, automation, and digitalization, you will be part of an engaged international project team. You will play a crucial role in providing innovative technical solutions for our clients.
This position falls under our Process Industries division in Switzerland and offers a #LI-Hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Power Distribution designs from conceptual to detailed stages for a variety of equipment including MV switchgears, Low Voltage MCCs, Transformers, Neutral Earthing Resistors, DC Power Supply, Power Factor Correction, and Harmonic Filters. Contribute significantly to design reviews and clarify technical aspects of the projects.
- Prepare and review a wide range of technical documents including single line diagrams, load lists, specifications, wiring diagrams, general arrangements, layouts, functional descriptions, Power System Protection Philosophy, digital protection relay logics, and IEC61850 Engineering.
- Collaborate with project team members across various disciplines (including control systems, infrastructure, drives, etc.) to ensure seamless integration into power distribution systems.
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and equipment suppliers from procurement to delivery phases, ensuring equipment aligns with project requirements.
Qualifications
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power distribution or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in power systems, serving as a senior project engineer or project lead engineer.
- Strong knowledge of energy distribution concepts, electrical network studies, and the sizing and specification of primary and secondary equipment, with experience in MV Switchgears and LV MCC projects, including digital protection relays and IEC61850 Engineering.
- A high level of self-motivation and curiosity, combined with a willingness to learn about new technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a collaborative and solution-focused approach, as well as strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are welcomed.
- Willingness to travel abroad approximately 25% of the time.
