Job Opportunity: Senior Program Manager, Freedom in Practice

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated professional to enhance our team as a Senior Program Manager, Freedom in Practice with a primary focus on our Empowering Individuals funding area. This role offers a unique opportunity to broaden individuals' ability to flourish globally as we collaborate with organizations at the intersection of classical liberal theory and its practical application.

The Empowering Individuals focus area supports projects that enhance individuals’ capacities for self-determination, individual choice, and peaceful, voluntary cooperation in society. We believe that by providing education, training, and tools that inspire excellence, individuals are empowered to realize their potential and improve the world around them. You will report to the Managing Director of Freedom in Practice and manage a grant portfolio of approximately 15-20 grants within this program.

The position is based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of Funding Area: Collaborate with the Head of Freedom in Practice to develop and expand the “Empowering Individuals” funding area.
  • Grant Selection & Due Diligence: Contribute to grant selection and conduct due diligence for grants in the application process. Prepare content and presentations for board meetings.
  • Grant Portfolio Management: Manage approved grants throughout their award period, providing oversight and administrative support to ensure alignment with our mission to advance freedom and prosperity worldwide.
  • Monitoring & Program Evaluation: Maintain close relationships with Rising Tide grantees, conducting site visits to understand successes and challenges, and how Rising Tide can contribute to grantee success.
  • Community & Event Leadership: Manage and grow the Rising Tide Grantee Community, leading communication efforts and planning regular online and in-person events.
  • External Representation: Represent the Rising Tide Foundation at conferences and events.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic direction of funding programs, refining the strategic plan annually alongside leadership and developing the corresponding budget for board approval.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years proven track record in grant management or non-profit management.
  • Mission Alignment: A deep understanding and commitment to classical liberal principles and their role in creating and sustaining a free society.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven experience in implementing classical liberal principles in real-world applications, particularly in education and skills development programs.
  • Community Building & Events: Success in managing and growing professional communities and experience in planning and executing high-quality events.
  • Networking: A robust international network of social entrepreneurs and potential grantees for Rising Tide Foundation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Process Acumen: Detail-oriented and process-driven to support improvements in grant management processes.
  • Personality & Leadership: A proactive, communicative, and professional personality with a strong sense of team spirit and reliability.
  • Language Skills: Fluent command of English is essential; proficiency in German and other languages is a plus, as are exceptional communication skills tailored for diverse audiences.
