Position Description

In this role, you will be part of a small but dynamic electronics engineering team, taking on a variety of tasks related to the development of both new and existing products. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing FPGA firmware and software for high-speed serial communication interfaces.
• Designing PCBs for high-speed communication/storage solutions and high-bandwidth connections for detector arrays.
• Verifying firmware and software, addressing bugs reported by end-users.
• Conducting initial bring-up and characterization of new detectors.
• Procuring components and assembly services for prototypes.
• Assembling proof-of-concept and prototype devices.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Required Skills

• Ability to efficiently and independently manage multiple tasks.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the capability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Advanced knowledge and experience in C++, VHDL, and Altium Designer.
• Proficiency in designing FPGA firmware in VHDL with tight timing constraints.
• Experience with high-speed serial communication technologies (e.g., Xilinx Aurora, PCI-E).
• Familiarity with test and measurement protocols.
• Proficient in data analysis software, such as Python or similar tools.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of statistical concepts such as Poisson and exponential distributions.
• Familiarity with semiconductor technology.
• Experience with testing requirements to validate semiconductor chips.
