Senior Procurement Manager

Background:

As a Senior Procurement Manager in External Manufacturing (CDMO Procurement), you will employ your analytical thinking, planning, execution, and focus to enhance the procurement sourcing and delivery capabilities. Leveraging your specialized knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and in-depth expertise in specific categories or spend areas, you will proactively identify and implement strategies for managing and sourcing third-party spend requirements. Additionally, you may serve as the Category Strategy Owner, overseeing the development and execution of the category strategy.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of EMS, you will function as the "Process Hub" for our global team of over 17 members. Your mission will be to ensure operational excellence by enforcing adherence to global standards, maintaining total portfolio transparency, and acting as the key interface with critical stakeholder functions. This role offers an unparalleled 360-degree view of Roche's external manufacturing business, providing a unique perspective for professionals seeking to master the complexities of global pharmaceutical outsourcing.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze diverse in vivo experiments, including intravenous injections, blood and plasma collection, bleeding and thrombosis models, and related procedures.
  • Characterize the efficacy and safety of novel gene therapy assets using molecular and biochemical assays (e.g., ELISA, thrombin generation assay, chromogenic assays) in murine and human samples.
  • Prepare, handle, and test patient-derived material (blood and plasma) in in vitro and ex vivo settings.
  • Perform data analysis and present results within the team.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to general lab organization, safety, and inventory management.

Must Haves:

  • Expert knowledge in Category and sourcing within External Manufacturing for pharmaceutical products, conducting market analysis to develop sourcing strategies that fulfill stakeholder needs while maximizing value for Roche.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the CDMO market for drug product and finished goods manufacturing.
  • Solid grasp of GMP and regulatory requirements and their implications for CDMO Procurement strategies.
  • Experience executing sourcing strategies and major initiatives, utilizing robust methodologies for sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier management.
  • Capacity to develop content and automate processes that translate sourcing strategies into guidelines and best practices, enhancing business adoption and efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in English, with expertise in pro-active stakeholder management in a remote work environment.

Nice to Haves:

  • Previous experience with Roche would be a significant advantage.
