Job Description

To support its growth, NEREID WATER is seeking a seasoned professional to assume the role of Senior Process and Thermal Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing desalination systems and developing efficient greenhouse cooling solutions for our international clientele. This role will also involve overseeing the design and smooth operation of new systems in collaboration with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimize our indigenous developed desalination systems, transforming prototypes into large-scale manufacturable products.
  • Develop and enhance process models for thermal, fluid, and chemical systems using advanced simulation tools.
  • Perform thermal analysis through process modeling of complete systems using process simulation software like ASPEN or ChemCAD to enhance overall performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct fluid dynamics simulations to improve flow distribution using simulation software like ANSYS, Star CCM+, or OpenFOAM.
  • Perform thermal analysis of heat exchangers using COMSOL Multiphysics, ensuring enhanced thermal efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other teams to design a cleaning mechanism for heat exchangers.
  • Develop innovative cooling solutions for greenhouse environments, improving temperature regulation under adverse conditions.
  • Work closely with the mechanical department to ensure the smooth progression of design and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with partners.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges during the manufacturing and deployment of systems.
  • Document research findings, write technical reports, and present results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Process Engineering, with specializations in Multiphase Flow, Heat Transfer, Process Modeling, and CFD Numerical Simulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, with specialties in Heat and Mass Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Chemical Modeling and Simulation.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in design and simulation, ideally within the water thermal desalination or thermal R&D sectors.
  • Proven history of managing complex projects with strict budgets and timelines in the thermal desalination or multiphase heat and mass transfer fields.
  • Extensive experience in process engineering and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of experimental validation techniques for fluid and thermal systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory); proficiency in French is a plus.
  • Possession of a valid car driving license.

Required Software Skills

  • Proficiency in process modeling and simulation software such as Aspen or ChemCad.
  • Good command of finite element analysis software like ANSYS or OpenFOAM.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, ideally C++ or MATLAB.
  • Expertise in CAD/CAM software and simulation tools like SolidWorks.

Candidate Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in thermal analysis and fluid mechanics.
  • Prior experience in leading new systems from design to large-scale production.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in designing thermal management solutions.
  • Familiarity with materials science as it relates to thermal management for liquid cooling applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking for creative problem-solving.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Able to initiate and lead projects while adhering to high standards and tight deadlines.
  • Strategic vision with the ability to identify and prioritize necessary changes.
