About the Role
The successful candidate will lead an in vivo imaging facility dedicated to enhancing the drug discovery process. This includes utilizing state-of-the-art imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, computerized tomography, and optical imaging to assess pharmacological interventions in small rodent disease models and identify and characterize imaging biomarkers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead an in vivo imaging facility and manage laboratory associates while coordinating technical development and activities.
Oversee equipment infrastructure and drive the development and improvement of techniques to tackle biological questions relevant to our projects, ensuring support for MRI, ultrasound, micro-CT, and optical imaging equipment.
Develop, adapt, and program imaging and spectroscopy protocols to address key preclinical pharmacological study questions.
Interpret, analyze, and report data obtained through these techniques, presenting results in both written and oral formats at team meetings and to management.
Design, execute, analyze, and report cutting-edge in vivo mouse and rat experiments involving imaging/spectroscopy.
Integrate in vivo imaging results with ex vivo tissue and biofluid analyses.
Collaborate with project team members across the organization and animal facilities to ensure the successful execution of complex in vivo studies.
Support the characterization of translational imaging biomarker candidates in partnership with the clinical imaging group at Novartis.

Demonstrated experience in in-vivo imaging of small rodents, with documentation through publications.
Laboratory experience with in-vivo MR techniques, equipped with the technical expertise and biological background to guide in vivo experimentation.
Prior management experience leading an in vivo imaging laboratory within an academic or industrial setting.
A strong motivation to deepen knowledge about diseases of aging and regenerative medicine.
A proactive and dynamic attitude, with a proven ability to formulate, articulate, and critically evaluate scientific experiments.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to thrive in cross-disciplinary teams.
High learning agility and a commitment to staying updated with the latest animal research.
Fluency in written and spoken English, along with excellent presentation skills.
Technical Skills
Experience with in vivo anatomical (MRI, CT, ultrasound) and molecular imaging techniques (e.g., PET, optical) as well as in vivo spectroscopy (e.g., 31P MRS).
Programming skills in the Bruker environment and image analysis tools (e.g., Matlab).
Data analysis capabilities.
Experience with hypothesis testing and problem-solving.
Accreditation for animal experimentation (LTK1/LTK2, FELASA B, or equivalent).
