Location: Schaffhausen, Switzerland

With your deep technical understanding of mechatronic systems, you will contribute to building the smart, reliable, and high-performance software that powers our machinery and shapes the future of welding technology.

Your Tasks:

  • Develop robust PLC software for complex platform-based welding systems, from concept to deployment. This includes temperature and process control, safety and protection, and interfaces to operators and other equipment controllers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver cutting-edge solutions.
  • Take ownership of projects across the full development lifecycle.
  • Tackle challenging technical problems to guarantee software reliability and top-tier performance.
  • Influence the development approach by improving tools, methods, and internal standards.
  • Contribute your expertise in code reviews and architectural discussions.
  • Help foster a strong internal software culture, reducing reliance on external partners.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members as needed.
  • Balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Your Profile:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or a technical apprenticeship with proven PLC software development training.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in reading and interpreting PLC wiring diagrams, and developing software for industrial systems or technical products.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages such as C++, .NET, Python, JavaScript, or EN 61131, along with familiarity with embedded Linux systems.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture principles, clean code practices, CI/CD pipelines, and agile workflows.
  • Experience with digital communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, REST APIs) and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in evaluating alternative and replacement solutions for control and electrical components in cooperation with the electrical/electronic team, alongside a strong knowledge of electronic lab equipment.
  • Able to generate clear, concise documentation for test plans and results.
  • Capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., electrical, hardware, software, firmware, manufacturing, quality) and independently as necessary.
  • Able to evaluate and make recommendations on cost, reliability, and manufacturability challenges while maintaining aggressive development schedules.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written); proficiency in other languages is a plus.
  • Valid Swiss work permit or EU citizenship.
