Your Mission
Job Description
As a Manufacturing Process Expert, you will be Climeworks' authority on the operation of novel manufacturing lines dedicated to sorbent filter production during development, startup, and operation.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Process Ownership: Oversee all aspects of manufacturing process engineering to produce new sorbent filter materials in collaboration with manufacturing engineers and product owners.
- Parameter Evaluation: Understand process parameters and their impact on products, evaluate, and tune parameter ranges used for equipment purchases and during startup.
- Manufacturing Ramp-Up: Lead the ramp-up of manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root cause analyses.
- Process FMEAs: Lead and manage process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) throughout the startup phase and beyond.
- Documentation and Training: Ensure thorough documentation, effective training, and proper knowledge transfer across teams.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with R&D, characterization/quality, product design, and sorbent/process development teams to secure high-quality sorbent module products.
- External Engagement: Serve as a key technical expert in collaborations with external partners, monitoring operations on-site when necessary to ensure DAC-specific manufacturing requirements are met.
- Lab Support: Assist with lab-scale manufacturing in R&D and evaluate new concepts for forward-thinking DAC solutions.
Your Story
Requirements
- Educational Background: A degree in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
- Work Experience: 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with notable experience during startup phases and successful delivery of commercial products.
- Field Expertise: Familiarity with continuous manufacturing lines, including powder handling processes, HSE regulations, and ATEX requirements.
- Methodology: Proficient in process modeling approaches (heat and mass transfer) and structured risk identification and problem-solving tools (e.g., process FMEA, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagram).
- Working Style & Ownership: Results-driven and detail-oriented with a hands-on approach throughout the development cycle, from laboratory work to high-level evaluations.
- Communication & Project Leadership: Strong collaborator with excellent communication skills, capable of leading internal and external projects effectively.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English and at least B1-level proficiency in German; knowledge of French is an advantage.
- Travel & Location Flexibility: Regular on-site presence in Zurich will be required during the first six months, with willingness for frequent travel (up to 60%, primarily between Zurich and Munich).
