Join Our Team as a Group Insurance or Reinsurance Underwriter

Are you an experienced Group Insurance or Reinsurance underwriter with a talent for assessing complex cases across Life, Disability, Accident, and Health? In this exciting role, you will be part of Zurich’s global Group Underwriting team, collaborating with underwriting and pricing teams across multiple markets. Your work will be hands-on, involving the review of referrals, understanding products and market standards, challenging pricing assumptions, and assisting local teams in finding effective solutions.

The Role

The business environment is dynamic and varied, dealing with a range of cases that may include Group Life, Disability, Accident, Health, or other forms of Group Protection. Some cases will be large or technically complex, while others may involve special benefits, limited data, unusual guarantees, or market-specific practices. With a focus on results orientation and technical excellence, you will use your independent judgement to challenge existing procedures and help local teams foster profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on complex Group underwriting referrals from markets across Zurich’s global portfolio, assessing overall risk, pricing, claims experience, terms, and reinsurance considerations.
• Collaborate with local teams to challenge proposals as necessary and develop practical solutions for non-standard business opportunities.
• Support the development and maintenance of Group underwriting philosophies, authorities, standards, and technical guidance.
• Contribute to Technical Underwriting Reviews and other assurance activities, identifying weaknesses and agreeing on practical improvements.
• Support selected product, proposition, and pricing initiatives while sharing knowledge to enhance underwriting capability across local teams.

What You Bring

• Solid experience (8+ years) in group pricing and/or scheme underwriting within life, disability, and health insurance or reinsurance; actuarial training is a plus.
• Broad exposure to different markets, products, and propositions, with the ability to adapt to various cultures and business environments.
• Deep understanding of group protection products and scheme underwriting principles, with the confidence to make decisions in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, proficient in explaining technical decisions, constructively challenging ideas, and collaborating with local teams to find practical solutions.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
