Senior Savoury Flavourist with Taste Expertise

You will be based in Kemptthal, CH, reporting directly to the Head of Science & Technology. As a global Flavourist within our Science & Technology group, your primary focus will be on innovating flavour creation for culinary and protein categories. You will collaborate with various teams in a cross-functional environment.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Build and prioritize culinary and protein category research projects.
  • Evaluate materials developed internally or from external sources to assess their potential for flavour creation.
  • Create flavours utilizing new technologies to meet project requirements for culinary and savoury applications, ensuring compliance with defined success criteria, regulatory standards, cost, and production requirements.
  • Support regions and customers with innovation and technological advancements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment in compliance with EHS policies.
  • Connect with regional flavourists and other functions.
  • Foster an inclusive environment by embracing diverse styles, thinking, and approaches.

Your Success Profile

  • 15+ years of experience as a Savoury Flavourist, following completion of an industry-standard flavourist training program.
  • PhD or Master's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related fields, along with experience in a food applications lab or production.
  • Solid knowledge of Maillard chemistry and processed flavours.
  • Demonstrated mastery in flavour creation, salt, umami taste, and flavour science.
  • Exceptional tasting skills and expertise in flavour creation.
  • In-depth knowledge of raw materials and flavour ingredients.
  • Proven ability to create specific flavour types to ensure optimal flavour performance for research and development needs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global regulatory requirements for flavours.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical methodologies (G.C., HPLC, Mass Spec).
