Senior Financial Analyst / Senior Financial Analystess

Swemco AG - April 7, 2026

ABOUT SWEMCO AG

SWEMCO AG is a Zurich-based family office focused on natural resources, with strategic investments across Africa and the Middle East. Our firm blends a long-term ownership philosophy with a hands-on approach to both operational and financial management in frontier-market jurisdictions.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a sharp, driven Senior Financial Analyst to join our small team in Zurich. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior management and shareholders, take ownership of financial models, support investment decisions, and conduct thorough analyses across our portfolio. This position includes regular travel to operating sites and partner locations in Africa, the Middle East, and the US.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Build, maintain, and stress-test detailed financial models covering life-of-mine plans, project valuations, and portfolio scenarios.
  • Prepare investment analyses, business cases, and conduct financial due diligence for new opportunities and ongoing investments.
  • Monitor portfolio performance: track actuals against budgets, identify variances, and produce clear management reporting.
  • Support the structuring of project finance transactions, including debt sizing, cash flow modelling, and covenant analysis.
  • Analyze the financial impact of regulatory changes, currency movements, and commodity price fluctuations across operating jurisdictions.
  • Conduct research into developing-country fiscal regimes, currency controls, and investment frameworks relevant to current and prospective investments.
  • Prepare materials for lenders, investors, and the Board, translating complex analysis into clear, decision-ready outputs.
  • Travel to operating sites and partner meetings as needed to gather ground-level data and support local teams.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Essential

  • 5–8 years of experience in financial analysis, investment analysis, project finance, or a related field.
  • Exceptional financial modelling skills, with the ability to build models from scratch and understand every assumption.
  • Experience working with, or a strong interest in, developing-country markets, including currency risk, regulatory complexity, and frontier-market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical mindset: comfortable interpreting ambiguous data, evaluating multiple scenarios, and navigating fast-changing environments.
  • Solid understanding of core investment analysis metrics (IRR, NPV, MOIC, payback period) and their application in financial modelling and investment evaluation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including to remote and challenging locations.

Advantageous

  • Background in natural resources, mining, energy, construction, or infrastructure finance.
  • Familiarity with project finance structures, Development Finance Institution (DFI) lending, and commodity-backed facilities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and fiscal environments.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Intellectually curious and self-directed; you ask questions and seek answers proactively.
  • Calm and effective in complex, unpredictable environments; you adapt quickly when circumstances change.
  • Precise and thorough in your work, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
  • Energized by frontier markets and the practical challenges associated with them.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive compensation package with performance-linked bonuses.
  • Direct exposure to senior decision-making in a lean, high-impact team.
  • A genuinely international role—no two weeks look the same.
  • The opportunity to develop deep expertise in frontier-market resource finance.
