As Novartis continues to diversify its portfolio, the demand for innovative device management is on the rise. We are seeking a Senior Expert - Device Project Leader to join our dynamic team in Basel or Schaftenau within the Portfolio & Customer Center of Global Device and Packaging Development.

Job Description

As a Senior Expert - Device Project Leader, you will play a crucial role in the Portfolio & Customer Center within the Global Device and Packaging Development (GDPD) team. Your main responsibility will be to guide and manage cross-functional project teams both within and outside of GDPD. This includes representing GDPD in CMC sub-teams, leading discussions, gaining support, and securing approval for project strategies and changes, particularly focused on Cell & Gene Therapy (C>) and Radioligand Therapy (RLT) projects.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Representing GDPD in CMC sub-teams, leading device-related discussions, and securing endorsement for project strategies or changes.
  • Leading cross-functional project teams as a single point of contact (SPOC) for all device and packaging-related issues.
  • Planning, managing, and controlling project resources, schedules, and budgets.
  • Assessing and negotiating internal and external resource needs consistently.
  • Establishing and maintaining high-quality documentation, including Design History Files, for combination product developments until manufacturing transfer.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal process requirements and current regulations, including Design Control, CMC, FDA combination product regulations, and ISO standards.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of process and delivery technology approaches.
  • Evaluating suitable device technology for various project phases.
  • Supporting internal and external audits related to packaging and medical devices.
  • Assisting teams in preparing regulatory dossiers, including documentation for medical device/combination product registration and responses to health authority queries.

Essential Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD (preferred) in natural science, engineering, pharmaceutical field, or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with exposure to C> and RLT, as well as drug-device combination product technical development.
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional team in a matrix environment.
  • Proven knowledge and track record in project and program planning and execution.
  • Understanding of regulatory guidelines for drug-device combination products, including relevant ISOs and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP).
  • Collaborative spirit, self-driven attitude, high level of learning agility, good listening skills, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written); German proficiency is beneficial.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for Role: CHF 93,800 to CHF 174,200. The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies, and experience, in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and will be reviewed periodically upon joining.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus based on specific performance parameters.
