Position Overview

Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a:

Senior Engineering and Maintenance Expert Ibex Readiness

This position is a 6-month contract, with possibilities of extension afterwards.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and maintenance initiatives for the construction and commissioning of biopharma facilities, supporting feasibility studies, conceptual design, and basic engineering phases.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the investment-engineering organization and operations, ensuring alignment and seamless collaboration.
  • Deliver essential input for the use of engineering and qualification tools required for the construction, commissioning, and qualification of biopharma facilities.
  • Implement maintenance strategies, standards, and concepts in new facilities, focusing on cost-efficient preventive and predictive maintenance in alignment with site-wide objectives.
  • Collaborate with Operation Heads to define and establish the operations organization, including headcount ramp-up plans for the facilities.
  • Drive innovation and operational improvements in facility design, incorporating insights that influence manufacturing and maintenance costs.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, openness to change, and cooperative teamwork, fostering collaboration across all levels.
  • Support the preparation of GMP and Safety risk assessments, contributing expertise to risk analysis processes.
  • Provide guidance to future production and project teams on plant engineering, maintenance, and utilities.
  • Represent your area as a member of the Plant Engineering Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automation.
  • Proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of driving high performance and aligning team priorities with business goals.
  • Experience leading complex engineering and maintenance initiatives in a biopharma manufacturing environment, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to act as a recognized technical expert, leveraging deep knowledge of engineering, maintenance, business, and financial processes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels and work closely with cross-functional teams.
