Senior Embedded Instrument Control SW Tester

Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, with important research and development functions based in the heart of it all. We are currently seeking a Senior Embedded Instrument Control SW Tester for our long-standing client, Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz.

Background

As a vital part of our HW Integration team, we don't just test; we ensure that complex interactions between electronics, mechanics, firmware, and software culminate in a seamless and reliable product. In this role, you will join an agile team of software experts, acting as the primary point of contact for complex issue analysis. Your expertise will help identify weaknesses early and establish diagnostic "hooks" directly within our designs.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Nurturing System Integrity: Act as the guardian of our instrument's quality, ensuring seamless, robust, and reliable interplay between embedded software and hardware for our customers.
  • Creative Test Evolution: Design and develop innovative test scenarios that thoroughly explore the system's resilience, allowing us to identify and resolve potential weaknesses long before they reach the field.
  • Transforming Data into Insight: Analyze logs and results from our instruments, turning raw data into meaningful improvements that enhance our diagnostic capabilities and long-term supportability.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Own the journey of an issue from discovery to resolution, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our solutions are both elegant and effective.
  • Bridge-Building across R&D: Serve as a key technical partner between different development teams and production, utilizing your deep system knowledge to provide clarity and support during complex troubleshooting phases.
  • Empowered Ownership of Quality: Take pride in delivering validated, high-quality work packages, ensuring a smooth and confident transition of designs to our global partners in Service and Operations.

Requirements

  • A degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in testing within agile environments, particularly at the intersection of software and hardware.
  • Proficiency in Linux and a strong foundation in test automation; while ISTQB certification is a plus, your ability to think systematically is what matters most.
  • A curious investigator who enjoys understanding how things work under the hood. You should communicate with empathy and clarity to ensure that technical findings lead to collaborative fixes.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is advantageous for local collaboration.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to contribute to one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies.
  • Modern campus featuring green spaces and meeting areas.
  • Convenient location with easy access to highways and train stations.
  • Diverse role profile.
