Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Management of the Electrical Systems under your control.
- Support engineering requirements by managing and liaising with Key Project Stakeholders (Client design team, Main contractor, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, etc.).
- Familiarization with Design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the Project works. Oversee the coordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring specification compliance and adherence to schedule priorities.
- Manage Site Safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and the Mercury Safety Advisor, including the setup, management, and closing out of the safety file as part of the Management team.
- Oversee Site QA in collaboration with the Mercury QA Manager, including setup, management, and closeout of quality assurance files.
- Manage the Project Schedule with the Mercury Project Manager, consulting Engineer, and Client requirements, ensuring Engineering activities do not impact the timeline.
- Oversee all aspects associated with your package, including:
- Mercury Electrical Team
- Sub-contractors
- Material deliveries and goods receipting
- Plant and Equipment
- Variations
- Valuations
- Handle all day-to-day site operations and ensure Mercury Policies and procedures are closely followed.
- Manage subcontractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels, ensuring adequate information flow for work progress and logging weekly meetings.
- Ensure works are installed in accordance with Project specifications and the Project QA plan.
- Assist the Installation Package team to manage quality needs for the project on site, providing guidance to ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and specifications.
- Manage the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system, ensuring supervisors return weekly punch lists as applicable and distribute all snags to subcontractors.
- Coordinate attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Coordination Meetings, and Handover Meetings.
- Close out all project deliverables, including Final Account, O&M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant relocations, and Project Plan, with support from the site project manager and your project team.
- Issue weekly cost reports covering all orders placed, materials expected, and labour levels.
- Conduct ongoing information reporting to ensure activity targets and deadlines are met to support the project team, with a generated Engineering Task Log managed by the Engineering Lead.
- Issue internal weekly progress reports aggregated from project supervisors highlighting progress percentages and any concerns.
- Prepare and submit external weekly progress reports to the project manager, detailing areas not available, delays, shortage of design, third-party hold-ups, and percentage completeness.
- Manage and undertake the technical submittal process and approvals.
- Schedule material deliveries in line with the project schedule, tracking deliveries and managing material procurement using the Engineering Materials Report (EMR).
- Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
- Prepare Sub-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in collaboration with Project QS.
- Assess Sub-contract and Supplier Tender returns for technical compliance with design intent specifications.
- Evaluate and promote new engineering practices and processes to enhance project delivery time.
- Support and coach all junior engineers assigned to the project team, fostering their development which is crucial to our organization and the industry.
- Attend project meetings or “White Board Activity Planning sessions” as required by project needs.
- Carry out all other duties associated with the role.
Essential Criteria:
- 8+ years’ experience working with a recognized Mechanical/Electrical contractor.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in systems software related to Engineering functions.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Familiarity with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
- Ability to effectively manage workload and prioritize tasks.
Desirable Criteria:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Knowledge of modularization.
