About H55
H55, the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse—the first electric airplane to successfully fly around the world—aims to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable. Our expertise is centered around the development of certifiable electric propulsion and energy storage systems that are modular, lightweight, and optimized for integration into future air mobility platforms. Headquartered in Sion, Switzerland, and backed by global investors from both Silicon Valley and Europe, H55 is entering a significant growth phase, focusing on product industrialization, establishing a presence in North America, and certifying next-generation systems. Join a forward-thinking team pioneering the future of electric flight, and help us turn innovation into real, certifiable aerospace solutions.
Your Role
As an Electrical Engineer within our EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organization (DOA), you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and certifying Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) such as Electronic Control Board Assemblies (ECBA) and other Airborne Electronic Hardware for our Electric Propulsion System (EPS). Working as part of the Electrical team, you will ensure that all design activities adhere to DO-254, CS-23, ARP4754A, and related standards. You will collaborate closely with our internal Certification, Safety, and Systems Engineering teams to support all Means of Compliance (MoC) and regulatory deliverables.
Your Responsibilities
- Requirements and Certification Planning
- Define Requirements as per DO-254 and ARP4754A.
- Create and maintain the Plan for Hardware Aspects of Certification (PHAC), Configuration Management, Analysis & Simulation report, and Safety analysis.
- Ensure alignment of activities with Development Assurance Levels.
- Hardware Development Lifecycle
- Execute the full lifecycle: Requirements Capture, Conceptual Design, Detailed Design, Implementation, Verification, Validation, and Process Assurance.
- Utilize Altium Designer while producing Drawings (DWG) or Schematics (SCH) as necessary.
- Ensure traceability using CodeBeamer or equivalent tools.
- Manage interfaces while producing Interface Control Documents (ICD).
- Conduct Peer Reviews, Design Reviews, and Power/Signal Integrity Analysis.
- Certification & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with EASA CS-23, DO-254, and DO-160G.
- Contribute to the generation of Hardware Accomplishment Summaries (HAS) and support the Certification Validation Engineer (CVE) in defining Means of Compliance.
- Coordinate and support EMI/EMC, ESD, Lightning Induced Transients, and Power Input qualification testing.
- Support Verification & Qualification Test Procedure.
- Coordination & System Integration
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers (DO-178C), Safety Analysts (FTA/FMEA/SSA), and Certification Engineers.
- Support consistency with ARP4761 safety assessments and proper DAL assignment.
- Assist in integrating hardware items into the broader Electric Propulsion System architecture.
- Configuration & Quality Management
- Maintain the Hardware Configuration Index (CIDX).
- Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) and manage Problem Reports (PRs).
- Ensure alignment with internal DOA processes and quality assurance standards.
